About This Work
Witness is a digital pinhole photograph with silent site-responsive video projection. The work was created as part of Anne Scott Wilson's ongoing exploration of the body's relationship to light and the camera, using pinhole photography to dissolve conventional representation into pure sensation.
The work favours material accident over conventional representation, presenting the photograph as a register of natural events and chance processes. By allowing the body and elements of the environment to steer and inflect the photographic process, Wilson counters the controlling influence of the camera, producing results that are spontaneous and subjective — a passage from exterior observation to interior reality.
