Beyond the Ballerina — Wyndham Art Gallery, 2025

Lift

“It's a fun and joyous interactive piece.”

Lift is an interactive video and motion-capture installation featuring Lisa Bolte, former Principal Dancer at the Australian Ballet. The work explores how dancers cope and continue to grow with their aging bodies, and how ballet shapes identity across a lifetime. Multiple screens present footage of the ballet studio alongside Bolte's movement, while a motion sensor invites viewers to step into the projection and place their silhouette among the dancers.

A companion series of three single-channel videos, EveryDay I Wait (En Équilibre, En Mouvement, À Terre), accompanies the installation, presenting black and white studies of Bolte's practice.
